Sembrarme Todas Mis Venas

Colectivo Morivivi, 2024
732 Chestnut Street, Springfield

This mural celebrates influential Puerto Rican women whose contributions to Puerto Rican culture and education have often been overlooked. Inspired by Angela María Dávila's poem "Quise sembrarme todas mis venas," the artwork prominently features a girl looking toward the future, supported by an ancestral figure depicted as a tree, whose roots bear the names of 30 impactful Puerto Rican women. The lower section of the mural includes objects on the windowsill that represent the achievements of these women. On the left panel, a pair of hands sewing symbolizes an individual envisioning and actively creating her own future as she gazes out a window. The open composition and interplay of light and shadow invite viewers to "look beyond" and inspire personal dreams and aspirations.

Colectivo Morivivi, active since 2013, is renowned for its powerful blend of public art and activism—"artivism"—designed to amplify the diverse stories within Puerto Rican diaspora, challenge prevailing cultural narratives, and foster collective reflection.  This is their third mural in Springfield.
